Dolores Dorantes is both the title and author of a major new book from Kenning Editions, forthcoming in 2014. You’ll notice a place is reserved on this website for this very book. Dolores Dorantes consists of four volumes, two of which were paired and published by a pair of publishers in 2008, namely Counterpath and Kenning (reviewed here, by the way). But that book is out of print and will be superseded by this complete collection of the entire series. Jen Hofer is translating and while we put the finishing touches on the book, we are pleased to note this excellent piece on Dorantes’ work, by the estimable Brian Whitener. This essay comes courtesy of ON Contemporary Practice, a publishing venture whose PDF archive is an important new addition to the spate of quality online critical writing about new poetry and poetics — “important” as evidenced by the first in their Monograph series, Robert Kocik’s Supple Science, which launched last night in San Francisco.
