Kevin Killian, almost certainly the most important contemporary figure in poets theater, passed away on June 15, 2019.
Here are some remembrances via KQED, Frieze, and Artforum. Others will follow.
Kevin co-edited The Kenning Anthology of Poets Theater: 1945-1985 and his selected plays comprise Stage Fright.
Kevin is the author of more than forty plays. His collaborative poets theater works include Stone Marmalade (1996, with Leslie Scalapino), The American Objectivists (2001, with Brian Kim Stefans), and, with Barbara Guest, Often (published in a limited edition by Kenning Editions in 2001).
His Box of Rain headlined The Festival of Poets Theater in 2016, here in Chicago.
