The Kenning Anthology of Poets Theater: 1945-1985 will officially launch in the press’ hometown of Chicago with a unique event involving performances, discussion, and hors d’oeuvres. With minimal technical support, and using the anthology as a sourcebook, six local poets will generate and perform a program of poets theater in just under 48 hours. Before the performance, participants in the poetry, theater and performance communities will sit for a roundtable discussion. A talk back and book party will follow. All events Sunday, December 5th, at Oracle Theater; see the Readings and Events page for full details. The event is co-sponsored by Kenning Editions, Oracle Productions, and the Poetry Magazine.
At the forthcoming Modern Language Association (MLA) convention in Los Angeles, January 6-9, 2011, anthology co-editor Kevin Killian and Kenning Editions publisher Patrick Durgin preside over a roundtable on poets theater, featuring Heidi Bean, Sonia Sanchez, Fiona Templeton, Daniel Tiffany, and Rodrigo Toscano. It is session #60 in the convention program; the MLA convention is open to registered members. The session was arranged by the Council of Literary Magazines and Presses and organized by Patrick Durgin.
